Will Ten Hag Strip Maguire of His Captaincy?

Rumours are swirling around that incoming Manchester United manager, Erik ten Hag, might strip Harry Maguire of his captaincy.

Maguire joined the Red Devils from Leicester City for a reported £80 million in July 2019; six months later, he was appointed captain of the club by ex-manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.

For the past season, however, the 29-year-old Englishman’s form has taken a steep dip, which has been a cause of concern among fans and support staff alike. As such, calls for him to be stripped of the captain’s armband have been made.

Now, this may become a reality when Ten Hag presumably takes over from interim boss, Ralf Rangnick, during the 2022/2023 season.

According to reports, Cristiano Ronaldo, David De Gea and Bruno Fernandes are potential candidates for the role of skipper– all three have had experience in captaining the club numerous times over the years.

Time will tell what Ten Hag has in store for Maguire.
